Each year, the Missouri Council for In-Home Services (MCHS) advocates for positive changes within the industry including the rules, laws, and policies governing the in-home industry.  Annually, the Council is successful in moving forward with these positive policy changes.   Initiatives for 2009 include:

  • Budget
  • In-Home Federal Reimbursement Allowance
  • Community Partnership Referrals

MCHS has released a statement regarding the restoration of Governor Greitens 2017 budget cuts:

The Missouri Council for In-Home Services applauds Governor Greitens for amending his budget proposal to restore $41 million to the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program. We support the Governor's action and thank him on behalf of the 20,000 participants and consumers who would have lost necessary services.

However, we remain concerned that drastic changes were proposed without input from participants, consumers, providers, vendors and advocates who know the program best. We are hopeful for the opportunity to work with Governor Greitens and his administration to strengthen Missouri’s HCBS program.

In his statement announcing the restoration, Governor Greitens said:

"This is not a long-term fix — it is short-term relief. My team and I intend to use the coming months to do a thorough audit of how this program works: who it helps, where it’s broken, and how we can deliver better services for fewer dollars."

We are ready and willing to work alongside the Governor and his administration to help articulate the breath and depth of HCBS, how these programs have saved Missourians billions of dollars, and how they have allowed thousands of Missourians to remain gainfully employed and continue living independently in their own homes.
