Home Care Advocacy Day
Jointly with the Kansas City Regional Home Care Association, Missouri Alliance for Home Care, and Missouri Hospital Association Home Health Constituency Group, the Missouri Council for In-Home Services hosts a Home Care Advocacy Day.
The event provides a venue for members of each association to learn about current home care issues and each individual can impact the system in a positive manner.
The day long event includes:
- In-Depth Discussion: D. Scott Penman from the Missouri Council for In-Home Services and Mary Schantz from the Missouri Alliance for Home Care provide an in-depth discussion about issues facing the in-home industry. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions in preparation of visits with legislators in the state capitol.
- Luncheon: The mid-day luncheon includes presentations by co-sponsors of the event as well as a keynote speaker, generally an individual that is deeply involved with home care issues.
- Blood Pressure Screenings: Nurses are encouraged to bring their blood pressure cuffs to conduct blood pressure screenings during visits to legislators' offices.
- Legislative Visits: Participants are encouraged to visit the State Capitol to meet with their Missouri legislators to discuss issues affecting the home care industry.
- Legislative Reception: The reception is an excellent opportunity to meet and talk to legislators in a casual, comfortable setting and educate them about the important role of home care in Missouri.
Make plans to attend the 2011 Home Care Advocacy Day on Tuesday, February 8. Watch for additional information coming soon.
